Jazz Cigarette is currently open for submissions.
Jazz Cigarette publishes text & image from varied strains. Send us your reverse villanelles, some jazz haibun, good old Ginsbergian bop kabbalah, asemic cryptolectics, semiotic pictographs, or really, something new. Not weird, though weird is good. But old school remixes for the digital age will not go unspun. GIFpoetics and codetomes welcome, too.
Jazz Cigarette receives First North American Serial Rights to debut a work to the public, and retains reprint rights, in the event any digital or physical anthology is produced. We also retain Internet Archival Rights, hosting your poem or art in perpetuity.
Jazz Cigarette’s reading period can be erratic, but we generally publish a spring, fall, and winter edition.
We only read, let alone accept, submissions which adhere to the guidelines below:
The journal is free and exclusively online. Read it, then submit.
For poetry, send 3-5 poems in a single attachment (doc or docx) to subeditors[at]jazzcig.com. Hybrid/Visual work may be sent in PDF, jpeg, png, or tiff. We WILL NOT respond to submissions containing any other file type.
Each poem should begin a new page.
In the body of your email, just include a brief bio. No need for formalities. We know why you’re here.
Calls for art submissions, if open, are posted at the top of this page. All submissions must be in .tiff format. Archival rights are retained in perpetuity by Jazz Cigarette.
Simultaneous submissions are fine, with prompt notice if accepted elsewhere. One submission of art and/or poetry at a time.
Follow the guidelines and send us your best. We're here to promote the good stuff.
